Family

On Sunday, Sister Walker taught a lesson about Family. There is a lot to be said about this subject in our religion. Although Christ is the center of the gospel, Family is essential to the gospel plan. The family unit was established even before the Earth was created. Satan attacks families from all angles. He knows that if he destroys the family, then it causes a chain reaction of destruction.

Sister Walker pointed out that Korihor (the Book of Mormon anti-Christ) used almost the exact same message of destruction that we hear today. Satan has used the same methods throughout time because it is effective. But through the gospel, we also have an effective plan. Family is our greatest asset. Nothing can compensate for strengthening family.

What can we do to nourish and strengthen our own families?

Some comments from the class:

-Follow the Prophet
-Love much and do what we can. We don't belong to the church of the "Perfect Family." We are only human, but we must strive to be perfect.
-Err on the side of loving too much.
-Remember that Satan tries to use force. Heavenly Father gives us everything we need to return to him, but we ultimately have the choice. We must do the same in our families.

What can we do to nourish and strengthen the families of others?

Some comments from the class
:

-Serve other families.
-Visiting teaching.
-Strengthen the mothers who, in turn, strengthen their own families.

The spirit of the lesson was a great. It left me feeling strong and hopeful.
Family is so important to all of us!

If you have anything you would like to add, please leave a comment!

Kelly, I appreciate your reviews of the lessons. It helps me remember the Spirit that was there, and what I was taught.

Thanks Randalin! I always feel the spirit at Relief Society.... but I don't always get to hear the entire lesson (thanks to baby girl). Somtimes I have a hard time interpreting my notes, too. I just hope my recaps make sense!
